Language school description

We are a friendly English language school located in the centre of Oxford.

Our small class sizes, qualified teachers and family-like atmosphere mean you'll improve your English quickly whilst making new friends.

We offer

CIE is a small school which has a close family atmosphere throughout the academic year. This helps make intensive study easier and much more pleasant. From our reception staff, to our teachers, to our principal, everyone will know your name. CIE's Bocardo House is in the centre of Oxford, opposite the world-famous Oxford Union. It is close to excellent bus routes and less than a 10 minute walk to many of the most beautiful sites in the city including Christchurch College where Harry Potter was filmed, the castle and the River Thames.

Courses: During the academic year, our class size usually contains no more than 8 students—often half the size of groups at most other schools. Your skills will improve quickly in these small classes and teachers can adapt the classes to suit the specific needs of students. Long-term students are assigned a personal tutor to monitor your progress and answer any questions you may have

Accommodation: Most CIE students stay in host family accommodation. This provides you with the opportunity to share the daily life of a British family. Breakfast and an evening meal are taken with the family on weekdays, and all meals at the weekend. As CIE is situated in the centre of Oxford, an excellent bus service is available to and from the homes of all our host families. CIE’s accommodation officer inspects the homes of all host families regularly to ensure that they meet our standards as well as those of the British Council.

Activities: We offer a range of activities located around the city of Oxford which can be customised for groups. Some examples of activities include punting on the river, ice skating, visits to Harry Potter sites, sports, tours around Oxford University Colleges and many more. We also offer weekend excursions which include trips to London, Bath and Stonehenge, Brighton and other beautiful cities around the UK.
